There are some big things in the pipeline for stars with connections to Gloucestershire and surrounding counties.
Here we look at just some of the projects that will keep them in front of audiences in 2020.
Who are you most looking forward to seeing more of?
This looks like being a BIG year for former Top Gear host Richard Hammond.
The motoring daredevil with the schoolboy good looks celebrated his landmark 50th birthday just before Christmas and his solo project Big starts on The Discovery Channel on January 15.
The series will show him travelling the world exploring how engineers have designed and built some of the planet’s largest structures.
On the face of it doesn’t look as dangerous as driving high speed supercars at 120mph, but we are talking about somebody who contracted a foot infection that nearly turned to deadly sepsis simply from dipping his feet in the water.
That brush with death came while travelling from Cambodia to Vietnam filming The Grand Tour with Jeremy Clarkson and James May for Amazon Prime Video.
The trailer for Big shows him asking an engineer about the dangers of a potentially explosive procedure shortly before a massive explosion blasts through a tunnel, so maybe he doesn’t make it to his 51st!
“There have been a few times that I’ve had a bloody good go at not making 50 but I’m still here,” he told the i newspaper about reaching the big five O.
During 2019 the self-confessed petrolhead and his co-stars backtracked over climate change but he’s made it clear that people should not expect him to sell his collection of high powered cars and bikes and take to two wheels in 2020.
In fact 2020 is the year when he hopes to win planning permission to revamp Bollitree Castle near Ross-on-Wye so he can display his prized collection of climate, unfriendly vehicles.
He lives there with wife Mindy, his two daughters and up to 15 horses, a donkey, a Shetland pony, two goats, five dogs, four cats, one peacock, ducks, chickens a, owls, bats, hedgehogs, foxes, badgers and fi
“I should discover a new maturity at 50 but the other two haven’t so why should I?,” he told the i.
“They are always accusing me of dyeing my hair. Even my mum thinks I do, but I don’t. Why would I do that? It is finally going grey though.”
Could 2020 be the year the Hamster resorts to the Grecian 2000?
Laurence Llewelyn Bowen
This year Laurence Llewelyn Bowen will be busy planning his daughter’s wedding.
Daughter Hermione, 24, and her fiancé Drew are getting married in December 2020 and the LLB’s never do anything by half.
No doubt the nuptials will be rather grand.
Laurence is fiercely protective of his 30-year marriage to wife Jackie and the whole family live together at their 17 Century Cotswolds manor house,.
This includes daughter Cecile, 21, her husband Dan and their son Albion, two to which the former Changing Rooms star is devoted.
Last year many thought he had been robbed when he became runner up in the reality TV show Celebrity Painting Challenge so maybe that will put him off any more appearances.
As well as filming for home-grown TV programmes such as DIY SOS Big Build and working on brand collaborations with home decor companies, Laurence remains in demand for makeover shows abroad.
He is a judge on an Australian TV reality renovation series which was commissioned for an eighth season and renamed House Rules: High Stakes in October. No doubt in 2020 he will be spending a lot of time down under making the series for the Seven Network.
But wherever his flamboyant suitcase and sharp wit takes him, his heart will remain at his home near Siddington just outside Cirencester.
He jokes that that living there means rubbing shoulders with Prince Harry at the local takeaway but these days it’s more likely to be Daisy May and Charlie Cooper from the hit comedy This Country. They admit to having a collection of LLB photos.
Maybe 2020 will be the year Kerry and Kurtan Mucklowe from This Country make it big and are invited to the Cotswolds society wedding of the year.
The dawn of a new decade could see Simon Pegg on a collision course with uber nerd Quentin Tarantino.
He may well be best buddies with the likes of Tom Cruise, Chris Martin and JJ Abrams, but the Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz creator appears to have rubbed the notoriously outspoken Once Upon a Time in Hollywood director up the wrong way,
His bad? Saying Tarantino was hoping to make an R-rated Star Trek film but it would not be in Pulp Fiction” in space.
“I get annoyed at Simon Pegg,” Tarantino told the website Deadline about the actor , who has starred as Montgomery “Scotty” Scott since the 2009 remake,
“ He doesn’t know anything about what’s going on and he keeps making all these comments as if he knows about stuff.”
Not that it will worry Brockworth-born, Pegg who is now one of Hollywood’s hottest properties after another busy year with projects ranging from appearing in the much applauded Mission Impossible 6 to voicing a character in the Dark Crystal and appearing in the massive streaming TV show success The Boys.
He is also expected to start filming the latest movie in the Mission Impossible series in which he plays Benji Dunn.
In 2020 he will return to the small screen with Truth Seekers, the new Amazon supernatural comedy with Nick Frost but his fans could see a more serious side to the actor when the independent film “Lost Transmissions. hits the big screen this spring.
Instead of his usual lovable geek persona the 49-year-old plays a schizophrenic music producer and told the website Gold Derby that 2020 could also see him finally make his directorial debut.
“I am producing a number shows with the production company I have with Nick Frost and I am hoping to maybe direct some episodic television but my ambition is to direct a feature film,” said the writer, actor and producer
“I have a lots of ideas. The idea of living with a story for some time really appeals. When I get a moment, I will do it.”
By the time he turns 50 on Valentine’s Day, February 14, former film student Pegg will have exceeded his wildest dreams in terms of professional success.
But despite his long list of achievements, all eyes will be on the waistline of the Schnauzer-loving dad of one.
Last year he lost 19lbs and hired a personal trainer to get very, very skinny” for the film Inheritance and admits his wife was reduced to tears by the sight of him down to just skin and bone.
Twitter watchers will be keeping tabs to see if their superskinny geek puts on a few pounds in 2020.
After creating what many regard as one of the best albums of 2019, the Cheltenham artist looks set to spend a large part of 2020 on the road.
Her second album Magdalene described by the Independent as “the sound of a woman teetering on the brink of collapse” has been labelled “astonishing” and “staggering”
And the positive reaction could see the 31-year-old former dancer finally emerge from the shadow of her famous ex-boyfriend, Twilight actor Robert Pattinson, and elevated to the same iconic status as Kate Bush and Bjork.
Dubbed “the Queen of Art Rock”, she will be peforming her radically experimental 90-minute live act featuring creative costume and choreography at festivals such as Bilbao BBK Live in 2020.
Fans love the mix of styles, ranging from Chinese swordplay, Wushu, to the pole-dancing she learned for the video to her comeback single Cellophane.
Twigs, whose real name is Tahliah Debrett Barnett, hasn’t really talked about why her relationship with Pattinson ended but admits to feeling lonely when she needed emergency surgery for fibroids soon after the split.
Since then she’s been linked to the actor Shia LaBeouf and her latest beau is said to be fashion editor Reuben Esser.
But told interviewer Zane Lowe that after “unmeshing” her life from Pattison’s she’s now happy with her pet dog Solo who she found behind a nail salon in LA four years ago. 2020 could be interesting.
“I have a dog and we hang, and I feel like I’ve never known myself better,” she said.
“I’ve never felt younger. I feel like I have like a little child inside me that’s like alive.”
The former Death in Paradise star will be returning to the Caribbean island Saint Marie next year but he will not have to set foot outside Gloucestershire to get there.
Britbox have done a deal to screen old episodes of the show he starred in until deciding to quit in 2014 because he was about to become a father.
Ben, who has appeared in the Paddington and Johnny English films, will have to stick to writing, meditating and being as kind as possible in 2020.
Starring in Mike Bartlett’s psychological drama Sticks And Stones this month has made the already over-polite actor think twice about how he treats people such as taxi drivers.
In the drama the main character believes he is the victim of workplace bullying while his colleagues accuse him of being over sensitive.
Ben can equate to his character’s anxiety and has had counselling himself to deal with the unpredictability of his profession. Last December he started to do about twenty minutes meditation morning and night to stave off the panic attacks.
Next year his fledgling writing career looks like taking off after he signed a new three-book deal with Simon & Schuster who claim he is about to become “a major force in children’s publishing”.
His debut children’s book, The Night I Met Father Christmas, was a best seller last year and this year’s offering, The Boy Who Made the World Disappear, is enjoying similar success.
Now Ben who came to fame as one half of comedy double act Armstrong and Miller, will pen three more books to be released in September in 2020, 2021 and 2022.
Miller said he is “beyond excited” about the deal and Rachel Denwood described him as a “born children’s storyteller ” with a “distinctive, utterly charming voice”.
“Ben Miller is an original, exciting talent and someone I see growing into a major force in children’s publishing in the years ahead,” she said.
Ben, whose father and grandfather both died of prostate cancer, will also carry on campaigning to persuade more men to visit the doctor …. and dreaming of being a guitarist in a band next year.
But fans of the thespian who lives near Cirencester with his film producer wife Jessica and their two children will be sad to hear he will not be going back to Saint Marie for real in 2020 unless writers can find a way of bringing his character DI Richard Poole back to life.
“Yeah, of course I would,” he said when asked if he would return by Digital Spy. ” It would be great fun! I love the character, he’s fantastic fun to do. But there’s no talk of that whatsoever, to be honest with you. It was pretty final, I thought!”

The stunning former girlfriend of Hugh Grant seems unable to escape the fact that she shot to fame by wearing an iconic Versace safety-pin dress to the 1994 premiere of Four Weddings and a Funeral.
In December he revealed she only wore the dress because she had been snubbed by other designers who didn’t know who she was.
The actress, who played Queen Helena, was upset last year when the The Royals was cancelled unexpectedly at the end of the fourth series and told a chat show host it had left too many plotlines hanging in the air.
But she said she was unlikely to make a return as sexy British agent Vanessa Kensington in an follow up to Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery because she would feel uncomfortable donning the same clothes she wore over 20 years ago.
But that doesn’t mean she is about to ditch her sexy look and she currently stars as villain, Morgan Le Fa in the third and final season of Marvel’s Runaways on Hulu.
The promotional snap showed her in a black sleeveless jumpsuit with a plunging neckline and a silver chain around her waist.
It would be interesting to know what she wears to do the gardening at her mansion near Bromsberrow.
Other honourable mentions:
